Hello!Here some new drawings I've made these past few weeks. I haven't got the time to sketch a lot on my moleskin as usual because I'm focused on finishing some works before going to vacations. I'm pretty excited about them, I'll go camping into the wild of the south of Chile. One of my dreams is to know that part of my country so I'm really happy. I've also been searching for new ways of drawing, been studying different artist, doing things in a different way. The goal is keep evolving and improving, is really motivating. I'm feeling more confident and less stiff now.Well, thanks for following this blog and hope you like this new stuff! :)

As the title says, I have a new Molesking, it was a birthday gift from friends and just now I started to use. The previous one wasn't so good, I wasn't in the mood so that green molesking totally reflects it. Anyway now a new year begins and a new cicle and everything is more colorful. I had a mission: desing two characters for a chilean 3D animation project. One was a homeless man, a bit crazy and lost, and a chilean street dog (quiltro).

These are the last pages of my dear sketchbook. Don't know how many pages it has or how many months it took me to fill it up but I'm glad I did so. The moleskin was with me near all the time, it even travelled with outside the country and well, I guess it closes a stage. Now I hope to fill the next one even faster and with more creative ideas.

These are some samples of a set of illustrations I'm making with my friend and colleague Carlos Eulefi(go check his works), I'm making the drawings and he's in charge of the sketches, greys and textures. The plot is about a chilean myth with mythological creatures, magic and stuff.

This is an late update of October. It was a very intense month.
First of all I travelled to Sao Paulo, Brasil in order to assist to the PIXEL SHOW and to the drawing workshop made by Bobby Chui along with my friends Eduado Vieira and Jon Bosco.
Pixel show is an event to show the latest stuff in graphic desing and illustration along with some cool conferences from local artist and international artist. It was very interesting to me to know how the illustration has been developping on Brasil, much more than here in Chile. I met fabolous artist, like incredibly talented as Tiago Hoisel, Diego Maia, etc. Everybody was very nice and very humble. Returning to Pixel Show, I went specially to attend to the conference of Bobby Chui and Jason Manley. Both were super inspiring! They talked about more than just art, but about the life of an artist and how to reach your goals. A great experience. Here a selection of photos I took.

AT LAST! I updated my blog with some fresh little sketches. These were done in differents sketchbooks (I have like 5 differents ones XD). Theses last months have been pretty crazy, tons of action has happened to me in all aspects and is not stopping.

Interview or something like that

Well, past summer (January here) a bunch of ppl entered into my home and video taped me and made me talk about my work. It was really weird and it was the first time I do this... so I was kind of nervious. The tv show is called PRISMA and is a pretty interesting show about chilean desing, art and music. Sadly is on spanish.

Well after a well deserved break watching The return of the king, DEEEEAATHHHHHH!!!!!!...I show you these last drawings I made for, what a coincidence!, two exhibitions, here in latinamerica:

The crazy cat with the charango is for an exhibition in Santiago of Chili, the subject was popular sentences, mine is: More "scratched (crazy in chilean meanning) than a cat's charango XD. It's organized by this chilean site Ilustrared.

And the other one is for an exhibition on El Salvador! yeeeah! I was invited to participated by a group of illustrator, 27PM :) Here's the website: http://27pm.net/. The subject of the illustration is EXPEDITION.
I'm supposed to be a special guest http://27pm.net/2010/04/invitados-especiales-parte-2 (I don't really think I have so many success on my job as they say! XD) so I did my very best on this one... and I tried to make something I don't usually do.. an illustration with animation look. I really don't know why I never tried that.

Good news, I bought a moleskine notebook and it's super usefull for sketching outside. And well it seems now I'll be more active on sketching outside, so I'm pretty happy about that.

Ehmm... I've been busy trying yo level up my skills. It's quite difficult when you are used to draw in a certain way, to start changing some lines and some concepts... but as far as I'm going, I managed to improve the ears of the characters (not reflected on this drawing, sorry) and well I feel like I have to start learning to draw from zero.
I hope to show some stuff soon on that. (and I hope you can tell the difference!XD)

Is useless, I don't know why but I just can't draw so well on daylight. I just did some disgusting sketches for a cover art work but nite comes and I get so productive!
Here I tried to do some "better" pencils for a sketch. Rock mountains sucks but if I keep trainning I will get to my goal. Hope u like them :).

Here I bring some sketches, trying to take out some ideas out of my brain, surely you can imagine what is all about. If you don't, sorry! I'm just not ready to tell anything! hehe.
As usual I'm frigging choking in work, mainly storyboarding for a chilean cartoon, to be aired next year on national TV!. It's real fun, after doing comics, the thing I enjoy the most is Storyboard.

After drawing like crazy in a completely another style, I had to take this out of my head, it's a character I invented based on a girl who voted last sunday (it was an election day and I was part of the people who count votes... yeah, super!). And also I always wanted to try this kind of style with this level of abstraction.

Hello AGAIN! yes I'm a bit productive today (well I HAVE to).
Here I bring you my last commission for now and some of the process, some raft ideas.
It took me a long time to get a cool idea for this request, because these characters are hard to mix for me; and I had a lot of elements I wanted to put together even by force XD: I wanted to show the hot girl, I wanted to put the flying car somewhere, I wanted to show the crazy big guy acting aggressive or excited with a face or something like that... So it was a little bit difficult to make up something with all that.. ah! and I forgot, I didn't wanted to draw a static pose either!...
But at the end I had a lot of fun specially on the german one (the one with the mechanical arm).

I saw this movie FARGO, and I really liked some characters, specially Margie.
Here some sketches ^^ and also a speed paiting of the face of margie, it's not so accurate but it's an excersice. Of course I used references from the movie, a screehshot.

This is a little project I'm starting, I had to do this one a long time ago but it was near impossible thanks to my work in illustration and other stuff. But I'm pretty happy to start doing comics again. Soon I'll be putting my hands in another project and hopefully great works will come!

I did the drawings directly with a regular pencil, trying to keep fresh xD

I inked the page using a light table with regular ink pencil (0.05).

Yeah, I went to the zoo with my Bf and we tried to draw the animals. It was pretty hard because the animals were always moving or the animals were lying in the floor near dead XD. And also I must add that I'm pretty weak in animals, but this first apporach was pretty good. We surely will repeat this excersice and I hope to vring better sketches! You should try to, is a lot of fun... AH! and also I must say we were inspired by David Coleman, of course! ^^

Night paiting

After a crazy week wich is ending just now, I gave myself a little time to paint a sketch I did some time ago. In these two weeks I've known a lot of chilean illustrators, due to the fact I've been invited to a couple of chilean illustration event or "convention". And I've been looking into their works, most of it to children books or editorial material, (very different from mine) and it's very good! It's a pleasure now to have an even wider view of influences and graphic material for the eye.
In this little picture, I tried to paint a bit different from what I do usually, and I kinda like the results ^^. I don't think I keep painting like that but is cool to try some different things, and that's the meanning of this little space ^^.

This days I've been working on this drawing for a Exposition of chilean artists related to the japanease comic art. I offered myself to do the promotional poster XD
I've always wanted to draw and desing something with japanease like graphics.
So I'm in this stage of inking the main character.

This second drawing is for a commission I'm working on, I have cool ideas for colors and illumination, specially for the clounds and the wings of the guy.
Soon more! and soon I will pimp this blog too! lol

Hello there! After passing my days avoiding the boring task of scanning sheets of paper, I finally dragged my self to do it (the goal of this blog depends on that lol).
So here I show you some of the process of doing the skydoll drawing... I started with clishes ideas... inventing Noa a new dress and posing her like sexy/suffering. I decided just to do my first stupid ridiculous idea which won a space on the artbook at the end. Yes, sometimes stupid funny ideas win.

This one is a little research of a character I have in mind. I'm still not getting where I want to arrive but I'm on it. This is part of a big composition I have in mind for the "birthday" of my country... is inspired on japanease animation.

Hello!
I'm glad I have something to show in this blog, after a looong time of near nothing. I took some good vacations in France, I expended such wonderful times over there!

Now I show you some of the process of a character I was comissioned.
This is a pet tamer for a website. Soon I will put more info.

First you have the first sketch, then the definitive pose and then the colouring and a detail of the face. I love spending time on detailing faces! but I know I should put more attention to the whole thing.

Skydoll Fanart

I did this illustration for a contest for being included in an Artbook dedicated to Skydoll's fanart from talented artist around the world.
So I was chosen from 200 images by the very own authors of my favorite BD!!! Barbucci and Canepa. So you can imagine how happy I am!! specially with the hard work process of thinking the idea and finnishing it.

It will be published by Marvel...

FIRST ENTRY!

Hello everybody!
After a long time posting on a wordpress blog, I decided to move in here again, because I had troubles managing the WP blog lol. This is easier, faster and it has improved a lot since I used to post in this system.

Well, as everytime I say I'm going to open another goddamned blog, I say I will upload a lot stuff as sketches and some experiments I may do. The real fact behind is that I open this things to push myself to do different stuff away from the work!

Now I let you with the best of my art classes of human figure, which has ended this past thuesday :(, but I will continue with human figure sessions in another place. The objetive is to master the human body!!!!
